Wedding Flowers York

Last weekend we were working in two of our favourite wedding venues. The Hospitium wedding flowers were lots of lovely garlands, fairy lights, red and cream roses wound around the pillars and stairs. It looked really beautiful and the bride wanted a rose tied onto the edge of the chairs either side of the aisle. Just small finishing touches like this make a huge difference.

The Hotel du Vin wedding flowers were much more simple. The courtyard, Hotel du Vin is a fab place to get married. On a nice day the roof opens so it feels just like being outside. Lights were placed on the floor either side of the aisle and we simply scattered rose petals amongst them. Again very simple but the overall look was magical.

VALENTINES FLOWERS YORK

Can't believe it's going to be Valentines Day in a few weeks time and already we have lots of orders from organised romantics who want to show their partners just how much they love them. It's always a busy time for us so it's lovely to get orders in early but we know we will be inundated with last minute requests on the day.

Lots of orders have been for the traditional dozen red roses but many have been for a mixure of pink and red flowers with just one red rose in the middle.

As usual we shall be delivering Valentines Day Flowers York and Nationwide

VALENTINES DAY FLOWERS

After the busy Christmas period it's great to get back into the swing of things.

2012 is going to be a very busy year for wedding flowers. We've been inundated with consultaions for wedding flowers from couples who live all over the world and who are getting married in york. Our wedding diary is pretty full already and we also have bookings for 2013.

Trends for wedding flowers for this year seem to be for the more elegant, sophisticated look, lots using just all one flower eg all roses, all peonies, all hydrangea etc. We will be using one of our favourite roses called Norma Jean (a big headed white/cream flower) which when fully open is massive and very blowsy, not only is it beautiful but it highly scented too.

All round posy style bouquets are still very popular for brides and flowers for hair have also been asked for.

Requests for wedding table decorations have been for really tall candleabras with balls of flowers and candles which will really give the 'wow factor' when guests enter the ceremony room.

If you are getting married and are unsure about your wedding flowers, just try to think of them as an accessory to your dress and remember that there is no rule that states the bridal flowers have to be the same as the reception flowers as what you have chosen to carry may not match your reception room.

Our Bride's (and Baby)

We have been as busy as ever with our day to day York flower deliveries and nationwide flower deliveries as well as doing wedding flowers in York and Yorkshire every weekend.

Last month we were working in some of our favourite venues. We did Jenny's flowers who got married in Sandburn Hall and she loved pink, diamontes and carried a beautiful bouquet of trailing phalanopsis orchids and her bridesmaids carried posies of white and pink flowers.

We arranged Claire's wedding flowers at The Merchant Adventurers Hall. Claire had collected lots of vintage cups, saucers, jugs, jars, tins etc that we filled with flowers including sweet peas and used a mixture of the containers as her centre pieces on the tables. They looked really good and suited the Hall.

Alison's wedding was at Churchill Hotel, Bootham and her flowers were all soft, muted shades of pink, cream and aubergine. She chose our elegant hurricane lamps for her table decorations and they were surrounded by flowers and soft foliage and looked very romantic.

Lucy and James were married in Pocklington and their reception was at The Old Lodge, Malton. They hired our tall candleabras for their tables and we had decorated them with white flowers and interesting foliage - the room looked great - very grand.

We also did flowers at Goldsborough Hall for Alison's wedding. Very soft muted shades of flowers including Norma Jean roses arranged on glass cake stands looked really clean and elegant on the tables.

These are just a few of our July Bride's who we have enjoyed working with and we wish them all the best for their future together with their husbands.

Must mention Chloe's christening. Beautiful baby girl and the theme for her christening was birds and butterflies. We had decorated Church and then arranged flowers at The Hotel Du Vin which were of course in all shades of pinks, some in bird cages with flowers spilling out onto the tables and butterflies dotted around.

Just wanted to share this fabulous picture and lovely email we received this morning from the mother of the bride:

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot find enough words to describe the floral display - it was just spectacular and even as I write this it makes me tearful to think about it! You had told us that the flowers would be the talking point and you were not wrong - they certainly were!!! Everything was just fabulous but the bouquet, well that just blew everyone away - it was just amazing! Even the staff at the hospitium said they had never seen anything like it before! All the guests were just bowled over, we wanted that impact - thank you so much!

We love "Ethelanna" from Mulberry Hall

Just had to tell you all about the most fabulous wedding favours and cake toppers that we have ever seen! One of our recent couples gave each of their guests a hand made character as an everlasting reminder of their special day. They also used them as a unique topper for the wedding cake (see the picture below). They informed us that they had purchased them from Mulberry Hall in York - we couldn't resist taking a look for ourselves, as you might have expected, so went along earlier today. You must go and take a look at them - we fell in love with them all! For more information take a look at www.ethelanna.co.uk

Summer Is Here!

We are starting to get really busy now with all our summer weddings. The recent spell of warm weather has been very kind to our brides - it has however, been a little more challenging for us, as we all know flowers & very hot weather do not mix! We have had weddings at many venues in York and accross Yorkshire - The Hospitium, Hazelwood Castle, The Merchant Taylors and The Merchant Adventurers, to name but a few. We even have a wedding at York Maze in a few weeks time which will be a first for us!
Check out our blogs over the coming weeks and months to see how all the "Big Days" went.

Mothers Day is coming!

We are all getting ready, the flower order is in, the workshop is stocked with oasis, ribbons and lovely new containers in readiness for the big day (3rd April)
We all love Mothers Day or Mothering Sunday as my late Aunt liked it to be known. The pleasure it brings to all the mothers' faces is heart warming and worth all the late nights and early Sunday morning.
Let's hope the weather is kind to us, we don't want rain of wind, our flowers don't like it and neither do we.
